Our wellness program rewards employees for participation in activities focused on exercise, stress relief, and proper nutrition. Each year the program kicks off with the corporate sponsored Health Risk Assessments, which are offered to both employees and their spouses. PJ's philosophy is that healthier employees make happier employees, which in turn drives our customer success. We reward people for being healthy through reduced health insurance premiums. Whatever the wellness activity, our goal is for employees to have fun and feel better. Employees who choose to participate can win prizes including iPads and additional paid time off.
Walk Out on Your Job (WOOYJ)
WOOYJ is a wellness event that happens numerous weeks throughout the year and it gets employees moving! During these weeks employees have the option to take 30 minutes out of their day and either run, walk, bike, or workout. This is a popular wellness campaign that employees look forward to. The best part is they get paid to exercise and have fun with their team members.
The Great PJ Relay
Every year since 2010, Craig Parsons challenges employees to a PJ Relay of 24 hours of continuous exercise for one week. Employees sign up for shifts in order to fill all of our hour long slots during the week and email in fun pictures of them exercising. We usually have this around Halloween so it's fun to see what costumes some of our employees come up with!
At PJ we believe in providing healthy nutritious snacks to keep our employees going throughout the day. Each Monday we get healthy snacks delivered to our service centers for the week. No more vending machines and junk food at PJ...it's apples, bananas, oranges, yogurt, string cheese, hard boiled eggs, etc. This is an employee perk that many people enjoy!
PJ feels it is important to reward employees for exemplary performance, taking part in wellness activities and for going above and beyond. The PJ PowerPoints program rewards employees for specific, individual and team accomplishments that are beyond daily expectations. PJ Points can be cashed in at anytime for additional paid time off, PJ apparel, gift cards, tool allowances, electronics, massages, etc.
We have helped many employees and spouses quit using tobacco and we love doing this. We are thrilled to announce that from 2014 to 2015, we had 10% of our employees quit using tobacco (Ben and Fred pictured above are two of them)! PJ offers many ways to help make this happen...a free 90-day prescription to employees and spouses, PJ points incentives, lower health insurance premiums, assistance with programs, etc. If it wasn't motivating enough to quit by getting healthier, we try and sweeten the deal by offering PJ Points. We award 200 PJ Points (equals $300) to employees and 100 PJ Points (equals $150) to spouses for quitting!
PJ Team Triathlons
PJ had three relay teams participate in the Devil's Lake Sprint Triathlon in September where they swam, biked and ran. All three teams had an impressive finish of first, second and fourth place! We are hoping to keep adding to the number of teams that compete each year.
