RPS Specifications
The RPS, Redundant Power Selector has been designed specifically to protect critical components during failure of a primary DC power supply.
The unit, which has a continuous capacity up to 16A, rapidly changes from a primary to a secondary power source once the primary voltage falls to a predetermined level. Why is this important? Many critical pieces of electronics (such as engine ECM’s) are sensitive to transient low voltages. Unless the power is transitioned quickly and smoothly there is a risk of those components switching off momentarily. The RPS changes far more quickly than a mechanical relay, and with the inbuilt added smoothing circuits, it ensures a safe, reliable hand over. The RPS also provides an indication to show the status of each power supply connection and supply for 3rd party connection so operators are always aware of the power status to these critical pieces of equipment.
At a glance
- Selects between primary and secondary 24v DC inputs
- Provides one 24 VDC / 16 A (max) supply output
- Dry contacts for Primary & Secondary input monitoring.
- Rapid switching protects critical equipment
- Internal smoothing circuits during changeover
- Returns supply to Primary on resumption of power
- DIN Rail mounting eases integration
- Type Approved

SDU 404 Specifications
The SDU 404 joins its larger SDU 410 to provide the independent shutdown capability required by Classification societies. Certified by DNV, this 4 channel unit provides the key functionality and cost-effective price to align to smaller engines requiring this level of global compliance.
The SDU 404 is equipped with local fault and channel status indications, a local acknowledge and reset facility, plus has a facility to perform the over-speed test required by Class during local survey and commissioning.
Designed to be used with either the DCU 410E or the DCU 210E, this unit is automatically configured from the DCU, just requiring a twisted pair “SDU Link” between each component. No programming, no configuring, with “plug and play” installability provides valuable cost and resource reductions.

SDU 410 Specifications
The SDU 410 is an independent, engine safety shutdown module designed to provide the functionality required to meet Classification Society Rules up to and including UMS notations. Equipped with eight switch channels for normally open (NO) switches, and inputs for two-speed sensors, complete with wire break detection, the SDU 410 also provides for short circuit detection and protection.
The unit also has warning LED’s for each channel reflecting these fault conditions to assist troubleshooting. With its own built-in web server, the SDU is automatically configured by the DCU module when connected via the simple two-wire SDU link. The unit can also be used independently and programmed using an Ethernet cable and any computer with a web browser.
Why more customers select the SDU 410
The combination of the SDU and DCU allows customers to be selective. Why pay for the functionality of Classed shutdowns if you do not need it? Simple DIN rail fitment means easy installation, and connectivity is clear via the printed connection diagram on unit, plus no special tools. The ability to configure the unit – without any interaction – when connected to a DCU, means significant savings in the resource.
The SDU, even when functioning as a “standalone” unit is still connectable to the Ethernet by a standard Ethernet cable, so the information and events are readily available to the ships systems when required.
