Safety First

The most important aspect to underground mining has always been, and will always be, the safety of its employees working in the mines. The high-quality services delivered to its customers comes as a close second.

Palmer Johnson Power Systems understands the importance of meeting customer demands in a distinctly superior manner where safety is the top priority. As a regular supplier of axles and transmissions to the underground mining markets, there is no doubt that we value our customer’s needs and requests when it comes to high-quality products and safe delivery.

Inspection is Key

Earthmovers Works compiled a video (see below) on Mobile Equipment in Underground Mines that showcases the process of inspecting the equipment used in mines, like the LHD Load Haul Dump, or “Scoop Trap.” The inspector discusses the importance of checking every part of the vehicle to ensure the safety and legal standards of use are being met, as well as ensuring that the operator of the vehicle is fully trained. Equipment found faulty is immediately removed from circulation.

“Mining is not a hazardous job. It is a job with hazards, and with proper procedures, these hazards can be eliminated,” says Patrick Vaillancourt, the Occupational Health and Safety Inspector with the Ministry of Labor, Mining Division in Northern Ontario.

Palmer Johnson Power Systems couldn’t agree more—when it comes to doing a job involving any sort of risk, it is important to follow all safety procedures impeccably so as to minimize the potential for danger to employees or customers.
