Reman Warranty

Reman Unit / Unit Repair

Limited Warranty Policy

Palmer Johnson (“PJ”) warrants remanufactured and repaired units against failures caused by defective service parts supplied by Palmer Johnson or by Palmer Johnson workmanship for a period of twelve (12) months or 1,000 hours of operation, whichever occurs first, beginning on the date of shipment.

Warranty Coverage

This warranty covers the normal labor and parts required to repair the warranted component.

Any premium labor charges or express parts delivery requested in connection with a warranty repair will be the responsibility of the customer.

Costs Not Covered

Unless otherwise agreed to in writing by Palmer Johnson, this warranty does not cover reimbursement for:

  • labor for removal and replacement (“R&R”) of a failed unit;
  • freight costs to return the unit to Palmer Johnson for inspection or repair;
  • downtime resulting from failure or product unavailability;
  • incidental, contingent, indirect, special, or consequential damages;
  • any on-site or special service costs unless authorized in advance through a Palmer Johnson purchase order issued by an authorized Palmer Johnson employee.

Warranty Claim Resolution Options

Palmer Johnson reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to resolve warranty situations by any of the following methods:

  • requiring the unit to be returned to a Palmer Johnson branch or service location for warranty repair;
  • shipping another rebuilt unit to replace the failed unit;
  • sending Palmer Johnson service personnel to perform the warranty repair at the equipment location;
  • authorizing and paying the customer directly to perform the warranty repair on behalf of Palmer Johnson.

Warranty Exclusions

This warranty does not apply to failures or damage resulting from:

  • misuse, abuse, neglect, or improper operation;
  • failure of parts not supplied by Palmer Johnson;
  • improper installation, service, or repair procedures;
  • contamination remaining in the system at the time of installation;
  • any condition outside Palmer Johnson’s control that affects the performance or life of the unit.

Palmer Johnson reserves the right to reduce, limit, or deny warranty coverage if its inspection determines that contaminants left in the system during installation caused or contributed to the damage.

Warranty Claim Requirements

Palmer Johnson will not consider a warranty claim unless:

  • Palmer Johnson is notified of the problem or malfunction in a timely manner;
  • Palmer Johnson is given a reasonable opportunity to inspect and correct the issue before the unit is removed, unless otherwise approved in advance;
  • the customer provides all materials, records, and data reasonably requested by Palmer Johnson to allow a complete failure analysis.

Palmer Johnson reserves the right to deny warranty consideration if the customer does not or cannot provide sufficient information to support the claim.

Engineering and Application Responsibility

Unless otherwise agreed to in writing, the customer is solely responsible for the engineering review, product selection, and application suitability of any remanufactured unit or unit repair purchased from Palmer Johnson.

Storage Warranty

Palmer Johnson offers an additional six (6) month storage warranty for eligible units held in storage, provided the customer can demonstrate that the unit was stored in accordance with the following requirements:

Storage Conditions

  • The product must be stored indoors in a dry environment.
  • Ambient storage temperature must be maintained between 41°F and 86°F.
  • The product must be protected from weather, moisture, dirt, and mud during all handling and storage.
  • All original packaging materials supplied with the product should be retained and used during storage.

Additional Requirements for Storage Over 60 Days

If the product is stored for more than 60 days before being placed into service:

  • the manufacturer-recommended oil must be added inside the product; and
  • the components must be rotated every 30 days to ensure internal gears and seals remain lubricated.

Rotation requirements:

  • Transmissions and converters: rotate both the input and output flange through two (2) complete 360-degree revolutions.
  • Axles: rotate the input flange until the hub completes one (1) full 360-degree revolution.

Units Installed After Extended Storage

If a unit is placed into service after more than six (6) months of storage, Palmer Johnson requires that the unit be returned to a Palmer Johnson Service Center for visual inspection and testing, at the customer’s expense.

Following inspection, the storage warranty may be extended for up to an additional six (6) months, at Palmer Johnson’s sole discretion, and only for units otherwise eligible for Palmer Johnson warranty coverage.
